DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT
MADELEIN BLACK
I’m running to honor someone I lost and help make support, hope, and honest conversation more visible for others.
I’m part of this year’s Dallas to Austin relay because the mission of Sayless Projects hits close to home for me. Running has become an important part of my life and a real support for my mental well-being, so being able to connect it to a cause like this means a lot.
Suicide prevention is personal to me because I lost someone closely connected to me to suicide. That loss changed the way I understand mental health and showed me how invisible someone’s struggles can be. For a long time, I carried guilt, shame, and questions I did not know how to talk about. Over time, hearing other people’s stories helped me realize how many people have experienced something similar. I’m running this relay to honor that loss, to help create more space for honest conversation, and to support a mission that brings people together through story, action, and community.
If you believe in showing up for people and supporting something bigger than ourselves, I’d be honored to have your support.
